GoT: White Walkers...

Hey everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend and didn't hate going back to work too much!
Today marks the return of the Game of Thrones posts, with none other than the creepy monsters which keep popping up every now and again... The White Walkers.

Creepy, right?

What might be an even creepier thought is that this post nearly didn't exist. In a bit of a scramble yesterday morning to change my camera's batteries I managed to drop it, pretty extravagantly with it crashing off the table first. Luckily, and somehow, it survived with only the bottom of the battery casing snapping off (which again, somehow, got fixed) and a bit of a shock to my system. Anyway, it lives on, as does this post, so let's get to it!

All the lovely polishes I used here! From left to right these are: Morgan Taylor 'All White Now'; Barry M's Denim; Morgan Taylor 'Party at the Palace'; Nails Inc Matte Top Coat; Leighton Denny 'Zero Gravity'; Barry M Matte 'Malibu'. I also used Barry M's "Black Multi Glitter", which isn't pictured here (oops!)

To capture the essence of the White Walkers, I wanted to hold onto their vivid blue eyes and weird wrinkly faces. (I'm sure there's a much better, actual description of them in the books, but I don't have it handy to quote)

And so, the weird eye-nail... thing... was born! To do this one I painted two coats of Barry M's denim as a base colour, and then squiggled Barry M's Malibu and Morgan Taylor's Party at the Palace over it, to get the depth of the colours. It kiiiinda worked, though I think it'd have been so much better if the lines were much thinner.

To finish those nails off I added a big black circle in Barry M's "Black Multi Glitter" as the pupil of their eye.

For the weird wrinkly nails I simply used All White Now as a base colour (2 coats) and added lines of Zero Gravity... voila! Wrinkle, squiggle things! These also would've been better in much thinner lines, but never mind!

Both types of nail were topped off with a matte topcoat to give an icy, frosted finish.

As... interesting... as this mani was, I couldn't stand to keep it on my nails for more than a day. Even though it's not perfect, and it's hardly very White Walker-ish, it's still managed to freak me out and I'm glad my nails are no longer suffering with it.

What would you have done to catch the White Walker's essence in your fingernails?

Swatch Watch: OPI 'Sprung'

Wooo time got away from me for a couple of weeks. Has it really been so long already? My apologies to any of you who have been eagerly waiting for new swatches (I know I have)! To make it up to you I've got a swatch for you today which, in my opinion, is pretty "in season" right now. I'm talking about the Rose Gold trend that's been going on for a year or two now - who would of known it would become so popular?

Today's nail polish is: OPI 'Sprung'. It sounds like it should be a spring green kinda colour... but nope! This polish is a beautiful rose-gold kind of colour with a perfect amount of shimmer to be classy and sophisticated. Don't believe me? Here it is!

Fact File:
Brand: OPI
Polish Name: Sprung
# of coats: 3 + (applies quite thin)
Finishing Texture: Smooth, shimmer
Cost: £3.10 at the time of writing, on

So I paired this polish with this gel-finish dotty topcoat... thing. That sadly, has no name, and was bought by my roommate…

Avril "Mille et une nuits" #32*

*This post contains an item sent to me in exchange for an honest review. Here it is a nail polish by Avril, called "Mille et une nuits" - No32.

Hello folks!

How are you all doing? How am I doing? Where am I? Who am I? So many questions...

To answer a few... I hope you are doing fine.
Yes, I am fine thank you.
I am in England, once again. For a long while this time.
I am Rachel, as always. And I have been missing from the blogging world for a couple of months.

The past 2 weeks I have spent job-searching (with success, yay!), catching up on Suits, and binge-watching Scandal. I want you all to go and do some homework and watch Scandal so I have somebody to talk to about it. Seriously.

Anyway, a few months ago I was lucky enough to be contacted by Avril - a french beauty brand which pride themselves on not testing on animals, and ensuring any of the ingredients used are also not tested on our furry friends. I highly respect this, and think that all companies should follow their …
