Wiki'd Nails: The Water Babies

Hey everyone!

It's Week 2 of the wiki challenge now, with the prompt for this being "The Water-Babies, a Fairytale for a Land Baby". Basically from what I've read over on wiki, it's a book where someone gets turned into a 'water baby' and taught what is 'good' again by a few fairies and leaders and what not... Yay?

All of the art for the book is in a pretty cool sketchy-painted kinda style so I wanted to try and capture that a bit, but I wanted to incorporate some stuff about the fairies, and of course the water, into my nails too, so this is what I came up with. (Major apology for the pic quality again, my camera and I will be reunited next week! And don't forget if you click a pic, you can make it bigger)

So as you can see, I went for a kinda sketchy-looking water ripple look on the majority of my nails. I used OPI's "Dining Al-Frisco" for a base for these, and then added lines in Nicole by OPI's "Positive Energy" (silver), OPI's "Yodel Me on My Cell" (darker teal), and Barry M's "Road Rage" (pale blue/green).

For my 'highlight' nail I went with the idea of doing fairy wings. Whether you can tell that's what they are is a different matter! I still like the flowy shape anyway. For a base I used Nails Inc's "Porchester Square" gel polish, before creating an outline in OPI's "Yodel Me On My Cell" and adding glitters of Barry M's Diamond Glitter and Disney Villainess "Just One Bite". I also filled in the top with Barry M's "Road Rage" so it wasn't a fully-nude nail and matched the others.

So yeah... I hope you like the design, let me know what you think in the comments below!

We've all taken a different approach to this prompt again, with a range of bubble nails to using some cover-art as inspiration, so make sure to go and check out the other lady's nails too!

Avril "Mille et une nuits" #32*

*This post contains an item sent to me in exchange for an honest review. Here it is a nail polish by Avril, called "Mille et une nuits" - No32.

Hello folks!

How are you all doing? How am I doing? Where am I? Who am I? So many questions...

To answer a few... I hope you are doing fine.
Yes, I am fine thank you.
I am in England, once again. For a long while this time.
I am Rachel, as always. And I have been missing from the blogging world for a couple of months.

The past 2 weeks I have spent job-searching (with success, yay!), catching up on Suits, and binge-watching Scandal. I want you all to go and do some homework and watch Scandal so I have somebody to talk to about it. Seriously.

Anyway, a few months ago I was lucky enough to be contacted by Avril - a french beauty brand which pride themselves on not testing on animals, and ensuring any of the ingredients used are also not tested on our furry friends. I highly respect this, and think that all companies should follow their …

I'm writing this whilst listening to the General Election results. I'm not going to get into politics here though, this is a safe politics-free zone!

I've been semi-missing the past few weeks, I know. Many apologies. However if you follow me on Instagram you'll have seen a couple of posts! And just in case you don't, here they are for you:

First of all actually, I had a little haul from BornPrettyStore, and bought the following stoofs:

And then did ma nails. (That's what I do here, generally after all).

Swatch Watch: Barry M Gelly 'Papaya'

Greetings folks,

Today's featured polish is one of my top picks for Summer pretty much every year. It's a Barry M Gelly polish, which I summarised all of the colours for (at the time) a few years back. You can check that post out here if you want to see the awesome variation of colours!

Papaya, however, is I think the first of the Gelly polishes I picked out. It's a pinky-orange/peach colour (wow, great describing skills, I know), that seems perfect for cocktails and beach-style weather. That weather is also known as Summer in most countries (and occasionally the UK). Of course, it has the beautiful gel-like shiny finish with it, which can be enhanced with a shiny topcoat, or even a gel-style topcoat if you want to go all out!

Most images in this post were taken with flash to try and capture the true colour of the polish. In some lights it looks more orange than peach, but I feel that all the images here show the true colour it appears in a few different light settings.
