Swatch Watch: KBShimmer "Alloy Matey"

Hello folks!

It's a new year, and thus a new post section title... thing... seems required. Thus introducing the Swatch Watch segment, where a load of swatchy goodness can be expected. To kick off the year's posts I've chosen a super sparkly holo glitter that is sooooooo pretty and distractingly in-your-face sparkling.

Introducing KBShimmer's "Alloy Matey", which arrived to me in this nail mail post.
First of all, this first image is extremely bad quality. But! I chose to include it because it shows off how holo-mazing this polish actually is. (Non-focused holo pics are like a life energy to me). Also note below the light conditions for this particular day - a rather stormy afternoon.

And this leads us on to some actually good images (in my opinion anyway, you're all welcome to disagree!).

Fact File:
Brand: KBShimmer
Polish Name: Alloy Matey!
# of Coats: 3 for 'extra sparkle', but 2 covered perfectly
Finishing Texture: Smooth, glitter
Cost: $9.25/£7.40 + p&p from LiveLovePolish

The above 4 images are taken in natural lighting, from my stormy windows/sky-light. As you can see, the polish comes across as a generally dark-silver with all of the tiny holographic-particle goodness. I used Unt's "Ready for Takeoff" peel-off basecoat underneath these to make removal nice and easy, and they stayed on for at least a week which I thought was very impressive.

These two images are taken with the flash on, which as you can see completely scatters the holo, makes them super shiny and shimmery, and makes them appear as a lighter silver/grey. This is what they mostly looked like in natural bright sunlight, also, which is extremely distracting when you're trying to work outside. (But 100% worth it).

To wrap things up then, I guess you could say that "Alloy Matey!" succeeded with its play on words as it is indeed a holo with an almost metallic finish. Either way, it's basically a silver small-particled holo glitter, and I love it to pieces and completely recommend it to you all.

And that's a wrap! I'll see you all very soon with a new Swatch Watch post, and some gorgeous new polishes! Don't forget to follow me on Twitter and Facebook for regular updates!

Swatch Watch: OPI 'Sprung'

Greetings!

Wooo time got away from me for a couple of weeks. Has it really been so long already? My apologies to any of you who have been eagerly waiting for new swatches (I know I have)! To make it up to you I've got a swatch for you today which, in my opinion, is pretty "in season" right now. I'm talking about the Rose Gold trend that's been going on for a year or two now - who would of known it would become so popular?

Today's nail polish is: OPI 'Sprung'. It sounds like it should be a spring green kinda colour... but nope! This polish is a beautiful rose-gold kind of colour with a perfect amount of shimmer to be classy and sophisticated. Don't believe me? Here it is!

Fact File:
Brand: OPI
Polish Name: Sprung
# of coats: 3 + (applies quite thin)
Finishing Texture: Smooth, shimmer
Cost: £3.10 at the time of writing, on tnbl.co.uk

So I paired this polish with this gel-finish dotty topcoat... thing. That sadly, has no name, and was bought by my roommate…

Avril "Mille et une nuits" #32*

*This post contains an item sent to me in exchange for an honest review. Here it is a nail polish by Avril, called "Mille et une nuits" - No32.

Hello folks!

How are you all doing? How am I doing? Where am I? Who am I? So many questions...

To answer a few... I hope you are doing fine.
Yes, I am fine thank you.
I am in England, once again. For a long while this time.
I am Rachel, as always. And I have been missing from the blogging world for a couple of months.

The past 2 weeks I have spent job-searching (with success, yay!), catching up on Suits, and binge-watching Scandal. I want you all to go and do some homework and watch Scandal so I have somebody to talk to about it. Seriously.

Anyway, a few months ago I was lucky enough to be contacted by Avril - a french beauty brand which pride themselves on not testing on animals, and ensuring any of the ingredients used are also not tested on our furry friends. I highly respect this, and think that all companies should follow their …
